One-Off Procedures
Neutering
Your kitten MUST be neutered (males) or spayed (females) by 6 months of age (i.e. three months after collection). Both male and female kitten can be neutered / spayed earlier, and in general advice now suggests earlier neutering after a kitten has settled into its new home – around 4 months of age. Confirm that your vet administers a full general anaesthetic when neutering / spaying both girls and boys.
Microchipping
You MUST microchip your kitten, and it’s ideal to do this during the neutering/spaying procedure as it can be done under anaesthesia. It can also be done whilst the kitten is awake but the needle is necessarily large and so best avoided if there is another option. Please send us the microchip number and we will add it to your kitten’s records that we keep and the registration at the GCCF, unless you’ve already transferred the kitten to your own name in which case you should update the GCCF records accordingly.
