…or more precisely 6.5 weeks old today! It’s been a busy week here… We’ve been working hard to rearrange our upstairs rooms to make it possible to have another kitten room – this will give us a lot more flexibility especially in the colder months. This morning the kittens moved downstairs into the kitten room behind the conservatory, and had their first playtime with a large cat tree and much more space. They then spent this afternoon exploring the big conservatory and enjoying our huge “hi-cat” tower which they took completely in their stride – it’s always fun to see how quickly kittens get used to climbing! We’re also very pleased that Corelli has started weaning, having tucked into both fish (yesterday) and chicken (this afternoon) – so it’s been a big day for the kittens, and a pleasure to see them so confidently taking advantage of their new spaces.
This afternoon the first potential new family made a visit, and the kittens had to make a significant decision – which pair would take up the offer of a lovely new home? It took a little while, which included testing out how comfortable their new mum might be to sleep on – and what she tasted like when chewed! As ever Dulcie was in the lead in deciding she’d like to adopt this family – and after much deliberation between the others Celia has chosen to join her. This was confirmed by each of them in the the time honoured fashion of falling asleep for their new owner. Next weekend Lottie and Corelli may get to decide on their future homes too. We’re still waiting for Saffy to start calling, so there’s still a couple more weeks to go but at this rate we might have kittens for Christmas!
