Sylvia’s kittens are now 8 weeks old – it’s almost impossible to imagine them as new-borns (for a reminder – click here!) – it’s such a joy to watch them develop, both physically and in terms of their personalities and interactions with people. This week especially we noticed how much more interested the kittens have become in what’s going on around them in the house – they are increasingly aware of the wider environment and keen to explore.
This is a big week for the kittens as on Wednesday evening they will have their first health checks and vaccinations – there’s nothing like a litter of kittens to bring our vet’s surgery to a standstill – they will be much admired! The heat here has been very intense especially over this weekend, so we are very careful to limit playtime in the conservatory to the mornings when it’s cooler – after lunch everyone has a huge nap in the kitten room which is thankfully either a lovely warm room in the winter, or a cool one in the summer.
On Saturday, Corelli chose his new family – he’ll be heading north to Manchester to join two lovely Tonkinese girls and a dog that loves cats 🙂 We’re all about finding the best homes for our kittens and we’re very pleased that they all will be joining such lovely new families in just under 5 weeks! The kittens enjoyed exploring the dining room and hall during this visit as the conservatory was just too warm on the hottest day of the year so far.
We brought Saffy home from her friend Minnie in Oxford on Thursday. She has that “I’m cooking kittens” look about her, so fingers crossed for a litter at the end of August. We’ll know in about a month if she is expecting. We only had limited time for photographs this week so they are a little haphazard, but thanks to Ingrid for capturing Celia asleep on her lap!
