We’re very sorry our update is a little later than expected – it’s been a very busy time here over the last 10 days or so! The kittens have been doing what they do best – putting on lots of weight and growing up into very polite young persons indeed. Purring comes very naturally to everyone now. They have all lost that “very young kitten” look and occasionally we do a double take when we mistake one of the kittens for an adult, especially when they are all asleep together! They continue to rampage about the place without a care in the world, eat a hearty meal and collapse in a heap on a regular basis. Tonight they’ve had their second round of worming (tablets this time) and in another week’s time they’ll be back at our vets for their second check-ups and final vaccinations.
The main reason for being late with this update is that despite taking all the photographs at the weekend, we’ve been busy writing an article on the subject of weighing kittens for the upcoming edition of the Tonkinese Breed Club newsletter. You might not realise, but we weigh all the kittens twice a day until they’re six weeks old, and then once a day until they leave us… This morning and evening routine is just one of the ways we ensure kittens make the best progress possible – and it acts as early-warning system just in case there are any feeding problems. Truth be told it’s rather a dry subject to write about, especially when you get into the depths of the spreadsheets and calculations involved – hence the dreadful pun in the title of this post! You’ll be pleased to know that everyone is doing very well weight-wise and to that end another freezer-load of food is being delivered tomorrow!
It’s rather hard to know if Saffy is expecting, but we *think* so – but she’s not saying much on the subject yet! We’ll only have a few short weeks between these kittens joining their new families and Saffy’s kittens joining us – so fingers crossed we’ll get a couple of restful weeks in before we begin again 🙂
We hope you enjoy the pictures – click on any of the kittens for a full screen gallery.
Best wishes, Mike & Lizzi
