Hurrah – everyone is now weaned onto raw minced chicken and doing very well on it. Weights are comparable with Saffy’s second litter which also had 7 kittens, but there is less of a gap between the smallest and largest kittens. Of course they still feed with Saffy too, but they are more regularly treating a plate of food as a proper meal now, rather than as an extra. Since our last update there are now much more significant play-times – these are hilarious to watch with play-fighting, chasing, playing with tails, pouncing and their favourite – “climb the human” whenever we’re sitting in with them. In particular they have developed that ability which is so funny to watch – the series of sideways jumps that give the impression that they are capable of actually walking sideways!
Saffy is either coming into season again, or is thinking about another move, so today we setup the downstairs kitten room, which always starts out with a steam clean of the wooden floor. We will probably move the kittens ourselves later in the week if this continues as one of their prospective new families will visit next weekend, and we try to make sure that the downstairs spaces aren’t too new to the kittens beforehand. Each litter has been different in terms of how they take to the changes – so it will be very interesting to see how these babies get on. It will also be slightly easier to take pictures of the kittens individually, as they will be higher up on the climbers in the conservatory or sat on a chair. They will always overnight with Saffy and Sylvia in the kitten room, in order to be warm and cosy now the weather seems to have turned.
We’d like to remind everyone of the 16th Tonkinese Breed Club Championship Show (click the link for more information) which will he held on 7th December in Bracknell. If you’d like to come along and see us (Sylvia and Agatha will be there) and a lot more Tonks besides then the show opens to the public around 12.30. It would be lovely to see some more Chorus Cats there so if you’re interested in entering the show but haven’t shown before do let us know as we’d be pleased to give you a hand.
We hope you enjoy this week’s pictures – click on the kittens for a larger view!
Best wishes, Mike & Lizzi
