All change! We usually move kittens into their own room just after they are six weeks old, if Saffy and/or Sylvia don’t object. With a family visiting on Saturday, we got everyone installed downstairs on Friday evening and this met with firm approval from adults and kittens alike – who took this completely in their stride, climbed the big cat tree without a second thought and fell asleep in its various beds. The kitten room has a window into the conservatory so in a few days we’ll move the tree next to it so the kittens can wander through themselves and use the smaller tree on the other side to safely reach the floor. Giving kittens more space a little at a time until they are ready for the whole house helps grow their confidence and it also suits Saffy to do it that way, otherwise she can be anxious if she can’t find all her kittens! We’ll introduce them to the conservatory in small doses to start with until they’re used to the space and the giant HiCat Tower – if you’ve ever been tempted to spend a lot of money on a cat tree – do look at these as they are really quite amazing.
The kittens were completely unfazed by their visitors (a family of four) which is a lovely reflection on their progress – all were much admired! They have enjoyed playing in the bigger spaces very much so far and it’s given us a chance to take some more individual pictures of them all whilst the light was good today, in between the hours of rain that seem to have fallen this weekend. We’re now seeing a lot more play with toys, a lot of confidence on the climbers, and they are consistently eating well and getting nice and chunky as a result. With this comes another upgrade to larger litter trays!
One of the families we’d been talking to is no longer visiting so two kittens will be available again but we won’t know which until after 26th October. We’ll be looking into our pool of enquiries but also happy to hear from new folks who might be interested in Chorus kittens – ideally we’d like two to go as a pair. If you might be interested please do read this page before getting in touch.
Here are our latest pictures – click on any of them for a larger view. It’s getting harder to have all seven in one place!
Best Wishes, Mike & Lizzi
